Homeschool Extension Program
Mars Hill Academy exists to help parents provide their children with a distinctively Christ-centered education. For parents who choose to homeschool their children, MHA desires to assist them by making individual courses available in the upper grades, i.e., Jr. High and High School. Homes centered on God and His Word will find reinforcement for a thoroughly biblical view of life. Whether in math and the sciences, or in the distinctively classical course offerings such as Logic and Rhetoric, we seek to teach and disciple in a manner consistent with Scripture and a godly home environment. Parents may enroll a child in one or more course offerings. Courses may be taken for credit or for audit.
- In credit courses, the student will receive a grade and an official record suitable for a transcript. Requirements for homework, tests, papers, and presentations are the same as that for MHA students.
- In the audit option, the student may attend and participate in all class sessions, and the teacher will provide written assessment of all student work. Unlike a credit course, no grade is assigned and no academic record is provided.
MHA conducts entrance testing in order to avoid placing students in situations where they are unable to succeed. The type of testing for each course is listed under course pre-requisites. All subjects except math will require competency in reading, grammar and composition. Most 8th -12th grade courses presuppose a background in logic. Homeschool Extension students are expected to conform to MHA conduct and uniform/dress code guidelines.
