Tuition & Fees - '08-'09

Mars Hill Academy’s tuition schedule conveys our heartfelt desire to make classical & Christian education available to as many students as possible while exercising good stewardship of our God-given resources.
This tuition schedule is intended to:

  • Help those who need financial assistance in providing their children a classical and Christian education
  • Avoid subsidizing the tuition of those who do not need financial assistance
  • Take into account the added financial impact of enrolling more than one student
  • Avoid a lengthy scholarship application process
  • Have the base tuition rate approximate the school’s actual cost per student
  • Build the board’s commitment to the MHA Financial Principles directly into the tuition rates

Application Fee
Non-refundable fee is due at time of application - $175 per child and a maximum of $400 per family per year. This fee covers the cost of student testing, the family interview, and administrative processing.

Example: A family’s total income is $85,000 and they have one Grammar student and one Rhetoric student. They will use the cells in column 2 and row $80,000 - $99,999 in each table to determine their tuition rates. Thus, their tuition for the Grammar student will be $6,471 and for the Rhetoric student, $7,632.

As you determine which income level describes your family, please include all sources available to you to fund your child’s education. This means salaries plus all other factors affecting your ability to pay. These factors include, but should not be limited to, relatives who are willing to assist, other assets that could be used, and passive income such as interest, capital gains and dividend income.

For example, say that your gross wages are $76,000. You receive $1,000 a year in interest and dividends. This totals to $77,000, placing you in the $60,000 - $79,999 bracket. However, your parents (grandparents) are willing to pay $3,000 of your tuition expenses. If this $3,000 is grossed up for tax purposes, your total income is now over $80,000, placing you in the $80,000 - $99,999 bracket.

Educational excellence for students is an important goal of Mars Hill Academy. Continuing that high standard requires ethical excellence from parents. We trust that as you calculate your income level, you will exhibit the integrity that God requires—and honors.

Tuition Payment Schedule
There are three (3) options for tuition payment:

  1. One payment for full tuition, due by July 1.
  2. Two semi-annual payments - one due July 1, and one due January 1.
  3. Twelve equal installments with the first due by July 1.
The remaining eleven payments are due on the first of each month
    ending on June 1.

Tuition may be paid through FACTS

Tuition Reduction Incentive Plan
In addition to financial aid, Mars Hill offers another way for families to lower their tuition payments. Our school participates in a SCRIP program whereby families buy gift cards and gift certificates for products and services used every day and the school receives a percentage - usually between 2% and 18%. When families buy these cards and certificates, the profit they generate can be applied to their tuition as tuition credits. Please call the school for more information: (513) 770-3223.
