Admissions

Admissions Process
Prior to initiating the admissions process
we recommend a visit to the school including classroom visits. Please contact the MHA office at (513) 770-3223 to request hard copy versions of any forms.

• Application

  You may apply to MHA at any time.
  Please send a completed application
  to the school office along with the application fee of $175 per student.
  
  
• Report Card/Standardized Test Results
  If the student applying for admission is in first grade or older, please include with the application a copy of the student's most recent report card, and a report card and standardized test results from the previous year. Please note additional information regarding transfer students.
  
  
• Handwritten Essay
  If the student applying for admission is entering grades 7-12, we also require a handwritten essay from the student explaining why he or she wants to attend Mars Hill Academy be submitted with the application.
  
  
• Pastoral Reference Form
  If the student applying for admission is entering grades 7-12, please include a completed Pastoral Reference form with the application.
  
  
• Student Evaluation Form
  With the exception of incoming kindergarten student applications, a student evaluation form, completed by your student's most recent teacher, should accompany applications.
  
  
• Student Testing/Family Interview
  Upon receipt of your application, application fee, and other documents, we will contact you to discuss class availability, student testing, and a family interview. Reviewing the following information prior to the family interview is highly recommended. The documents are linked here or are available by request from the office:
  1. An Introduction Classical Education booklet which describes in detail the classical and Christian approach to education (expands on the introduction found on this web site);

• Acceptance
  New families will be offered or declined admission by letter within one week of the family interview.
  
  
• Tuition deposit
  When a family accepts an offer of admission, a $500 per child tuition deposit
  is required. This deposit is non-refundable and applied to the final Mars Hill tuition payment. Until this deposit payment is received the place in the class will be available to another student.
  
  
• Transfer of records
  Once admitted, parents must request and forward to Mars Hill a transfer of records from their child’s previous school.
  
  

Admissions Requirements for Students

• A child entering Kindergarten must be five years of age by July 31, 2007.
• A child entering first grade must be six years of age by July 31, 2007.
• Regarding transfer students in higher grades: If a child has successfully completed the previous school year, and his schoolwork and behavior compare favorably to the comparable grade at Mars Hill Academy, the child will likely be placed in the grade for which he is applying. Please note additional information regarding transfer students.
• In general, Mars Hill Academy admits students of any race, to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally made available to all students. Mars Hill Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, color or national origin on the administration of its policies, admissions, scholarships, athletic and other school-directed programs.

Admissions Requirements for Parents
Though not required to be professing Christians, the parents of Mars Hill Academy students should have a clear understanding of the biblical philosophy and purpose of Mars Hill Academy. This understanding includes a willingness to have their child exposed to the principles of the school’s Foundational Documents in frequent and various ways within the school’s program.

The parents should be willing to cooperate with all the written policies of Mars Hill Academy. This is most important in the area of discipline and schoolwork standards, as well as active communication with the respective teachers and administration.
