June 1, 2006 - Congratulations to eighth-grader Mathew Giese who made it to the eighth
round in the Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Only
9 of the 273 contestants were left standing at the time Matthew was eliminated.
May 2006 - Senior Amanda Hall is named National Merit Scholar. Amanda will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. She is one of the 2,500 high school seniors chosen among 15,000 who reached the finalist level. are National Merit Commended.
March 2006 - Seventh grade Matthew Giese wins the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee and will represent our region at the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. May 2- through June 1.
February 2006 - Fifth grader Rachel Chastain wins the ACSI District Spelling Bee.
September 2005 - Senior Amanda Hall is named National Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist, and Seniors Matthew Chastain, Heather Knight, and Betsy Peters are Commended National Merit Scholarship Students.

May 2005 - Senior Bill Robinson is named National Merit Scholar. Bill will receive a $2,500 scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. He is one of the 2,500 high school seniors chosen among 15,000 who reached the finalist level. Senior Andrew Brinkerhoff is among the 15,000 finalists.
May 2005 - Math League Awards: The seventh grade Pre-Algebra class and senior Calculus class both advance to the National ACSI Math League competition. Top individual performers include Pre-Algebra seventh graders Evan Pederson and Caroline Ryan (tied for 3rd place); ninth grader Ben Cox (3rd place in Geometry); and seniors Bill Robinson, Tom Thistleton and Grace Wagner who all tied for 1st place in Calculus.
March 2005 - Seventh grade Matthew Giese wins the Scripps Howard Spelling Bee and will represent our region at the National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. May 2- through June 3.
February 2005 - Seventh grader Evan Pederson wins the ACSI District Spelling Bee. Fifth grader Talia Colvin places third and will compete in the regional competition along with Evan.

sixth-grader Matthew Giese! Matthew won the ACSI NATIONAL Spelling Bee in
Washington, D.C.
May 2004 - National Latin Exam Results: MHA 6th graders took the Introductory Latin exam and three students achieved perfect scores; 7th graders took the Latin I exam and two students received gold medals; 8th graders took the Latin II exam and two students received gold medals.
April 2004 - Andrew Brinkerhoff scored a perfect 1600 on the College Board SAT exam. Andrew is a Junior at Mars Hill. This was the first time he took the test. Congrats to Andrew and to classmate Bill Robinson who scored a near-perfect 1580.
January 2004 - MHA has two first-place medal winners, three second-place and three fourth place finishes in grade level competition in the 2004 ACSI Regional Spelling Bee.
2003 ACSI National High School Essay Contest First Place Winner for the essay,"How My Christian School Experience Has Made Me a Better Student and Stronger Christian."
Overall winner at ACSI District Spelling Bee in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
